Katy Perry Cut 'The One That Got Away' Price, Desperate for 6th No. 1 for 'Teenage Dream' Album
Katy Perry has once again slashed the price of “The One That Got Away” to the affordable price of $0.69, which is an obvious attempt to score yet another No.1 single from her recent 'Teenage Dream' album.
This is not the first time that Katy has cut prices to climb the charts, but you already know that. I guess her label figures if its worked before then why not try it again.
Effective as of last month, any albums priced below $3.49 during their month of release will be refused entry onto the Billboard 200. I would expect that eventually Billboard will do the same when it comes to discounted singles as well.
TheDivaJuice: I'm okay if she wants to discount previously released singles. But to slash price down for her current singles in order to help it climb the chart is a little bit unfair. I mean, who wouldn't want to download a hit single that cost only $0.69 whereas others hit singles are priced at $1.29. I mean, last week I downloaded ' Spotlight' by Jennifer Hudson on iTunes just because it was priced at $0.69. Previously, never bother to download that song because I'm not into that song very much, but the price really do influence people buying power.
Afraid that this kinda of trend will continue to be followed by others in desperate attempt to hit the top spot of Billboard Hot 100. Gaga already did it one time with Born This Way album price was slashed to all time low $0.99.
