R.I.P Whitney Houston (We Will Always Love You)

Famed singer Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48, according to ABC News. The cause of her death remains unknown. News of her passing came from her publicist, Kristen Foster.

Houston was pronounced dead today at 3:55 p.m. PST at the Luxury Beverly Hills Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. Police said that there were no obvious signs of foul play at this time and it's being investigated by Beverly Hills detectives. She was there presumably preparing to go to Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party.

Most recently, Houston had been working on a remake of the 1976 film Sparkle with Jordin Sparks and, according to reports, she was healthy and in good spirits. Her latest musical release was 2009's I Look To You, which was her seventh studio album. In total, she sold 170 million albums and singles, easily making her one of the best-selling artists of all high time.

Of course, one of her biggest hits was 1992's "I Will Always Love You" off the soundtrack for The Bodyguard, which she also starred in with Kevin Costner. The single went quadruple platinum in the U.S. alone.

It goes without saying that Houston has had a storied career and it's one that has brought her almost too many awards to list. She received six Grammys, two Emmys, 30 Billboard Music Awards, and 22 American Music Awards, among many others. You have to imagine this is going to have a profound impact on tomorrow night's 54th Annual Grammy Awards, its presenters, and its performers.
